Serum Immunoglobulin Concentrations in the Patients with Cancer of the Cervix

Abstract
Serum immunoglobulin levels(IgG, IgA, IgM) were estimated in 16 patients with cervical cancer, 9 patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasm and 10 healthy controls matched for age and parity.
The value were analyzed according to clinical stage, histologic cell type and lesion size. There were no significant differences in the mean levels of IgG, IgA and IgM among the 3 groups. In patients with cervical cancer, the mean levels were not
significant change according to clinical stage except IgG which showed the decrased tendency at the higher stage. According to cell types, the all mean levels were not different between squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. According to
lesion
size, the mean levels of IgG, IgA were not different in all lesion size, but the mean level of IgM showed the increased thedency in the less than 3cm.
These results suggest that the serum immunoglobulin levels can not bo used for the immunodiagnosis and prognostic parameters in cervical cancer patients without the further investigations.
